The “Maniac” has been banned by the FIM until further notice.
The FIM has announced the provisional suspension of Andrea Iannone following a test indicating a “non-specified substance” in his urine. The test was completed by a WADA accredited laboratory in Germany. The Aprilia Racing Team Gresini rider was tested in November during an “in competition test” during the Malaysian round in Sepang. Pursuant to Article 7.9.1 of the 2019 FIM Anti-doping Code (CAD), a provisional suspension is mandatory, in effect from December 17, 2019, until further notice.
Iannone has the right to both request and to attend the analysis of his sample, as well as request that his provisional suspension be lifted.
