The Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak 2027 gets a genuine race-bike identity, with a new livery pulled directly from Ducati’s Desmosedici GP and Panigale V4 R factory machines. It’s a Centenary-year update, designed by Centro Stile Ducati in collaboration with Drudi Performance, and it’s already landing at European dealers.

Where the Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak 2027 Differs

The livery blends color combinations and surface treatments straight from Ducati’s MotoGP and Superbike machines, built specifically to create a sense of movement across the bike’s bodywork.

Carbon-fiber components, a street-legal titanium Akrapovič silencer, gold-anodized Öhlins fork sliders, and a Ducati Corse badge on the beak round out the race-inspired details. None of these details change the bike’s actual performance on their own, but together they’re a clear signal of which side of Ducati’s lineup this crossover wants to be associated with.

Underneath the finish, this is still the Pikes Peak formula that’s defined the model since it descended from the original Multistrada 1200: a Superbike-derived engine, 17-inch wheels, a single-sided swingarm, and long-travel sports suspension, all wrapped in bodywork capable of mounting luggage for genuine touring duty.

The Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak 2027’s Engine and Chassis

Power comes from the 1,158cc V4 Granturismo engine, making 170 CV (125 kW) at 10,750rpm and 123.8 Nm at 9,000rpm. The counter-rotating crankshaft, a piece of technology derived directly from Ducati Corse’s MotoGP program, works against the wheels’ gyroscopic inertia to sharpen handling, a detail that matters more on a bike this sporty than it would on a typical touring machine. Borrowing that specific piece of race-derived engineering, rather than just the paint scheme, is what separates a genuine crossover from a standard adventure bike wearing a sport-styled graphics kit.

Öhlins Smart EC 2.0 semi-active suspension runs the same event-based logic found on the Panigale V4 S and Streetfighter V4 S, self-adjusting to riding phase in real time. A dedicated Race Riding Mode adds a racing-style rev-limiter strategy and a more aggressive quickshifter calibration for downshifts, while ergonomics shift from the standard Multistrada V4 with higher, further-back footpegs and a lower, narrower handlebar built to increase lean angle.

The full electronic safety package carries over from the Multistrada V4 S, including standard front and rear radar for Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Detection, and Forward Collision Warning. Ducati’s Factory Made program adds near-bespoke customization on top, from red forged wheels to a full luggage set, buildable directly through Ducati’s own configurator without needing aftermarket parts, part of the same centenary-year product push that’s defined Ducati’s 2026 lineup.

How the Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak 2027 Compares to Its Predecessors

The Pikes Peak name carries real racing weight for Ducati. The brand’s relationship with the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb dates back to 2008, and Ducati has won the event four times on a Multistrada 1200 (2010 through 2013) and again in 2018 on a Multistrada 1260 Pikes Peak, all piloted by the late Carlin Dunne.

Since the 2011 Multistrada 1200 S Pikes Peak became the first Ducati named for a North American race, one out of every six Multistradas sold has carried the Pikes Peak badge.

What’s notable about the 2027 update is what didn’t change. SBI first tested the V4 Pikes Peak back in 2022, when the same 1,158cc V4 Granturismo made a claimed 170 hp and 92 lb-ft of torque, essentially identical to this year’s 170 CV and 123.8 Nm once the units are converted.

Five years and multiple model updates later, Ducati hasn’t felt the need to chase more power out of this platform, choosing instead to keep refining the electronics, suspension, and now the livery around an engine that was already doing its job.

The 2022 bike’s livery drew specifically from the Desmosedici GP21; this year’s pulls from both the current Desmosedici GP and the Panigale V4 R, a broader reference than the single-bike tribute Ducati ran originally. The single-sided swingarm, a Pikes Peak signature that’s set the edition apart from standard Multistradas since the nameplate’s earliest days, carries through unchanged, still the clearest visual cue that separates this bike from the rest of the lineup at a glance.

A touring bike that borrows its paint scheme from an actual MotoGP machine is one thing. Backing that livery with a counter-rotating crankshaft pulled from the same racing program is a different statement entirely, and it’s the part of this update that separates a genuine performance crossover from one that just looks fast standing still.
