After a dominating 2022 season in MotoAmerica, the Ducati Panigale V2 is heading to Canada for the CSBK Pro Sport Bike class.
Spectators and racers alike can now look forward to the introduction of Ducati’s 955cc Desmo into the Bridgestone CSBK middleweight Liqui Moly Pro Sport Bike and Amateur Sport Bike classes in 2023. This follows a successful round of official Dynojet testing conducted by series organizers Professional Motor Sports Productions of Toronto, ON for the Panigale V2.
The Ducati Panigale V2, in its stock trim, almost meets the criteria for this class. According to series partner Brooklin Cycle Racing of Pickering, ON, entries for this segment must weigh 350 pounds wet and produce no higher than 125 horsepower on an official Dynojet Dyno machine. Competitors or teams must guarantee their machine abides by the post-race measurement guidelines. Brooklin Cycle Racing has developed various methods to control the Ducati twin’s performance, and competitors can create physical, mechanical, or electronic approaches to confirm they follow the rules.
Riders and teams are invited to join the 2023 Bridgestone CSBK Championship tour for a pre-season test at Jennings GP in North Florida from March 14th to 15th. This will be followed by the official launch of the National season that is scheduled to begin on Victoria Day weekend (May 19th – 21st) at Shannonville Motorsport Park, located east of Belleville, ON.
“We are excited about the Ducati Panigale V2 competing in the Sport Bike division of the CSBK Nationals in 2023. Ducati won the MotoAmerica Supersport category (Similar to CSBK Sport Bike) with Josh Herrin on a Panigale V2 in 2022, and we look forward to seeing our twin join the competition in Canada in 2023.” – Bradley Goodbody, Marketing and Communications Manager for Ducati Canada.
“The homologation of the Ducati is an important step in our update of the middleweight format. We are looking at other changes in Liqui Moly Pro Sport bike series, and everyone from racers to fans are excited by the current competitive nature of this division – the Ducati Panigale V2 can only add to the drama at the front of the field.” – Colin Fraser, CSBK.
