The Benelli Tornado 550 Officially Arrives at U.S. Dealers, Starting at $5,999

The Benelli Tornado 550 has officially arrived at U.S. dealers with confirmed specs — a 554cc twin making 56 hp, full Brembo brakes, and an introductory MSRP of $5,999.

When SBI first covered the Benelli Tornado 550 back in November, Benelli hadn’t yet published final output numbers — the bike turned heads on styling and promise alone. That gap is now closed. The Benelli Tornado 550 has officially arrived at U.S. dealers through Keeway America, with confirmed specs, confirmed pricing, and confirmed availability.

What We Now Know: Confirmed Power, Torque, and Pricing

The Benelli Tornado 550 is powered by a 554cc parallel twin, an evolution of Benelli’s well-regarded 500cc platform, now confirmed at 56 hp (41.2 kW) at 8,250 rpm and 54 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm. The crank configuration was deliberately changed from an original 360-degree design to 270 degrees specifically to give the engine what Benelli describes as a more biting character — a genuine tuning choice, not just a spec-sheet number. Power runs through a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch, and the engine itself specs out with a 70.5mm x 71mm bore and stroke, 11.5:1 compression, DOHC, 8 valves, and liquid cooling.

Benelli Tornado 550 pricing is now confirmed too: an introductory MSRP of just $5,999, time-limited, with a standard MSRP of $6,799 once that special pricing ends. Benelli and Keeway have both been explicit that initial availability will be limited, so this is a genuine act-now situation for anyone who’s been waiting since the first look to see real numbers attached to this bike.

Premium Components at a Non-Premium Price

The chassis is a steel trellis design using the engine as a load-bearing element, paired with genuinely premium suspension and brake components rarely seen at this price point. Up front, fully adjustable 41mm Marzocchi USD forks offer 115mm of travel with adjustable compression, rebound, and preload; out back, an adjustable Marzocchi monoshock connects directly to a double-wishbone swingarm. Braking is full Brembo: dual 320mm floating front discs with 4-piston calipers and ABS, plus a 260mm rear disc with a dual-piston caliper and ABS. Pirelli supplies the rubber — 120/70 ZR17 up front, Angel GT 160/60-17 out back.

The tech package matches the hardware. A 5-inch color TFT display runs Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity alongside a USB-C charging port, with standard traction control, two selectable ride modes (Normal and Sport), and a TPMS system that reports both tire pressure and temperature. Full LED lighting rounds things out, including a front DRL design Benelli describes as inspired by the sharp fangs of the lion that’s served as the brand’s historic emblem — a nice, specific styling detail worth noting on a bike that leans hard into aggressive, sculpted lines throughout.

Practical numbers worth knowing: seat height comes in at a genuinely accessible 790mm for a full-fairing supersport-styled machine, curb weight sits at 198kg (about 437 lbs), and the fuel tank holds 16.5 liters. Between the confirmed 56 hp output, the Brembo-and-Marzocchi chassis package, and a starting price under $6,000, the Benelli Tornado 550 has turned last November’s promising unknown into one of the more genuinely compelling value propositions in the middleweight sportbike class. Interested riders should contact their local Benelli dealer soon — limited initial availability means this one won’t sit on showroom floors for long.
