The BMW F 450 RR puts a tubular steel space frame, a Brembo monobloc caliper and a built-in lap timer on a 48 hp twin for $7,815. BMW Motorrad USA announced the 2027 model on October 15. The M Sport is the only variant headed to the U.S. at launch, and it should reach dealers in summer 2027.

BMW F 450 RR Engine and Sound
The engine is a 420 cc liquid-cooled parallel twin, the same family of motor that debuted in the F 450 GS. On the BMW F 450 RR it is tuned for sportbike duty. It makes 48 hp at 8,750 rpm and 32 lb-ft of torque at 6,750 rpm, and 80 percent of peak torque is there by 3,000 rpm. Bore and stroke are 72 by 51.6 mm, with a 13:1 compression ratio.
The crankpins sit 135 degrees apart, which gives the twin uneven firing intervals and a voice that sounds nothing like a typical parallel twin. A counter-rotating balance shaft keeps vibration low. The stainless-steel exhaust runs under the belly with two catalytic converters, which keeps weight low and heat away from a passenger. Magnesium clutch and transmission covers trim a few more pounds.
A six-speed gearbox sends power to the rear wheel by chain. Shift Assistant Pro handles upshifts and downshifts without the clutch, and the pattern reverses to a GP layout, first gear up, for the track. The optional Easy Ride Clutch, part of a $330 Innovation Package, removes the lever from the equation. I like that it stays closed on overrun, so engine braking works until the bike is nearly stopped.

BMW F 450 RR Chassis and Brakes
A welded tubular steel space frame carries the engine as a stressed member. The wheelbase is 55.3 inches, the steering head angle is 23.4 degrees and the trail is 4.3 inches. Up front is a gold-anodized 43 mm KYB upside-down fork with 5.5 inches of travel, and on the M Sport it adjusts for rebound and compression. A KYB shock works with a hollow-cast aluminum swingarm and adjusts for preload and rebound.
Braking comes from a 310 mm floating disc with a Brembo four-piston monobloc caliper at the front and a 240 mm disc with a ByBre single-piston caliper at the rear. Cast aluminum wheels measure 17 inches at both ends and wear 110/70 and 150/60 tires. Road-ready weight is 392 pounds with a 3.69-gallon tank. The seat sits 31.1 inches high, and accessory seats add 0.79 inches or take away 0.59.

BMW F 450 RR Electronics and Riding Modes
Rain, Road and Race modes are standard, along with ABS Pro, which brakes while the bike is leaned over. Brake control blocks the throttle during hard stops, and traction control and engine drag torque control round out the package. Riding Modes Pro adds a configurable Race Pro mode, so a rider can tune throttle response, traction control and ABS to personal taste.
The 6.5-inch TFT display runs a Pure Ride screen, and with Riding Modes Pro it adds three sport screens for traction control, braking force and lean angle, plus a lap timer. Bluetooth handles calls and music, and the free Connected app puts turn-by-turn directions on the display. Heated grips, full LED lighting and a USB-C port are standard.
BMW F 450 RR Design and Ergonomics
The BMW F 450 RR takes the nose-down, tail-up stance of the S 1000 RR and scales it for the 48 hp class. Winglets, asymmetrical side panels with gills on the right side and a split face carry the RR look. BMW’s earlier small RR was the G 310 RR, a single-cylinder bike. This one is a twin with a space frame, and the difference shows in the stance.
Clip-on bars mount to a forged aluminum triple clamp, and the passenger peg brackets bolt to the rear frame. The footbrake lever, shift lever and side stand are forged aluminum. The body is shaped for knee grip along the tank, and the two-piece seat finishes in a slim tail.

BMW F 450 RR Price and Availability
The 2027 BMW F 450 RR M Sport carries an MSRP of $7,815 plus destination. It arrives in Snaefell White with M Motorsport colors and white frame and wheel decals. Every 2027 and 2028 BMW motorcycle includes the break-in service at 600 miles, as long as it is done within six months or before 750 miles.
Accessories include soft cases, tank and roll bags, a radiator guard, axle protectors, paddock stands and a high clear windscreen.
Where the BMW F 450 RR Fits Next
With the F 450 GS already announced, the BMW F 450 RR gives the new 420 cc twin a second job, and a sportbike is where a motor earns its reputation. The 450-class field already includes the Aprilia RS 457, and the BMW arrives with a track-ready shift pattern, a lap timer and a configurable race mode.
Every new rider who starts here is a rider BMW can keep for the next ten years, and the RR badge now has a price a first-time track-day rider can reach.
