2025 marks a milestone for MV Agusta as the Italian motorcycle manufacturer celebrates its 80th anniversary. Since its foundation on January 19, 1945, MV Agusta has been a symbol of innovation, passion, and Italian craftsmanship. Known for its performance on racetracks and its designs on the road, the brand continues to captivate the motorcycle world.
Luca Martin, CEO of MV Agusta Motor S.p.A., expressed the significance of this milestone: “Being part of MV Agusta during such a significant year in its history is a unique emotion and a great responsibility. This milestone is not only a tribute to our legacy but also a commitment to the future: to continue innovating while maintaining the values that have made MV Agusta a global icon.”
MV Agusta began when the Agusta family, pivoting from aviation to motorcycles after World War II, established the Società Anonima Meccanica Verghera. Their first motorcycle, the MV 98, debuted in 1945. The company’s aviation heritage is evident in its motorcycles, with designs that reflect the precision and innovation of its roots. The iconic red and silver livery, inspired by motorsport and aviation, remains a hallmark of the brand.
Throughout its history, MV Agusta has helped shape the universe of motorcycles. From the prominence of the MV 98 on racetracks to the development of high-performance road bikes, the brand has consistently pushed boundaries. Legendary riders such as Giacomo Agostini, John Surtees, and Mike Hailwood have cemented MV Agusta’s racing legacy with 75 world titles—38 riders’ championships and 37 manufacturers’ championships. Agostini alone claimed 13 world titles with MV Agusta.
The brand’s dedication to creating “Motorcycle Art” is obvious in its models. The 175 CSS “Disco Volante,” the 750 S “America,” and the F4 are just a few examples of MV Agusta’s masterpieces that have captivated riders and collectors alike. Recent innovations such as the Superveloce, Rush, Dragster, and Turismo Veloce continue to embody MV Agusta’s DNA of performance, elegance, and cutting-edge technology.
In 2024, MV Agusta began a new adventure with the Enduro Veloce. The brand also collaborated with artist Daniel Arsham on the Superveloce Arsham, who used the Superveloce as a canvas in which to create a “modern relic”.
To celebrate its 80th anniversary, MV Agusta unveiled the limited edition 2025 Collezione Ottantesimo, a collection of six exclusive models revealed at EICMA in 2024, each made in. runs of 500. The collection includes the Brutale RR Ottantesimo, Dragster RR Ottantesimo, F3 RR Ottantesimo, Superveloce S Ottantesimo, Brutale 1000 Ottantesimo, and Brutale 1000 RR Ottantesimo. Each bike features a laser-etched “1 of 500” engraving and a certificate of authenticity. A redesigned logo from the Centro Stile MV Agusta adorns the collection.
From the shores of Lake Varese to the racetracks and roads worldwide, MV Agusta’s name is synonymous with elegance, power, and precision. The MV Agusta 80th Anniversary is a celebration of a storied past and an exciting future.
