An adventure bike inspired by full factory rally motorcycles, the Husqvarna Norden 901 hits showroom floors in North America.
The Husqvarna Norden 901 made its world debut as a concept motorcycle at EICMA in 2019. The production version of the bike is now ready to hit the road and make a dent in the middleweight adventure segment.
The Norden 901 employs a parallel twin 899 cc engine with vibration minimizing balancer shafts, housed inside of a chromium-molybdenum steel trellis frame with a die-cast, open lattice aluminum swingarm. A six-gear gearbox is complimented by a power assist slipper clutch (PASC) feature and an easy shift function for clutchless up and downshifting.
The suspension components consist of adjustable (compression, rebound, preload) WP APEX 43mm front forks and an adjustable (rebound, preload) WP APEX rear mono-shock with linkage. The suspension configuration offers 220 mm of travel in the front and 215 mm of travel at the rear.
The braking department operates with dual four-piston radially mounted calipers with 320 mm rotors on the front end and a single 260 rotor on the rear with a two-piston floating caliper. The braking system is enhanced by a Bosch 9.1 MP ABS unit that also includes cornering ABS with street and offroad modes. There’s also the added feature of Husqvarna’s lean angle sensitive cornering traction control. The ABS can also be disengaged if so desired.
There are three riding modes that come standard with the Norden 901: Street, Rain, Offroad) plus an optional fourth Explorer mode that offers nine levels of adjustable rear wheel slip, courtesy of the cornering sensitive motorcycle traction control.
Prepped for road duty, the Norden 901 rolling on tubeless aluminum spoked wheels (21 inches front, 18 inches rear) laced with Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tires. The large capacity 5-gallon gas tank offers a travel range of 248 miles when filled at capacity.
Rider controls enlist premium components: forged aluminum triple clamps, tapered handlebars, aluminum footrest holders and cast steel footrest with removable rubber inserts.
A rally-inspired bodywork design and LED lighting system illuminate the road for the Norden 901 while boosting ergonomic performance and rider comfort. There’s the two-piece, height-adjustable seat. The handguards gives protection when riding off-road or through the brush. And, of course, there is a 12 volt charging port for handheld devices.
The Ride Husqvarna Motorcycles smartphone app allows riders to connect to their Norden 901 via Bluetooth, with handlebar-mounted controls, that alert you to communication and music alerts, as well as provide turn by turn navigation that is displayed on the five inch TFT screen.
The 2022 Husqvarna Norden 901 is scheduled to hit dealership floors in November of 2021 with an MSRP of $13,999.
