Husqvarna GASGAS Recall Covers 6,257 Bikes With a Do Not Drive Advisory

The Husqvarna GASGAS recall covers 6,257 off-road motorcycles over a rear brake caliper defect that can crack during backward rolling, prompting an NHTSA Do Not Drive advisory.

The Husqvarna GASGAS recall covering 6,257 off-road motorcycles has been issued a “Do Not Drive” advisory from NHTSA — the agency’s strongest safety classification, and a clear signal this isn’t a routine “bring it in when convenient” notice. KTM North America filed the recall as campaign 26V443 after confirming the rear brake caliper’s primary pin casting can crack or break under certain conditions.

Which Models Are Affected by the Husqvarna GASGAS Recall

Of the 6,257 total units, 5,395 are Husqvarna and 862 are GASGAS. The 2022-2024 Husqvarna FE 501s accounts for 3,685 units, built between January 13, 2022 and October 11, 2023. The 2022-2024 Husqvarna FE 350s covers another 1,710 units from the same production window.

On the GASGAS side, 516 units of the 2024 ES 500 and 346 units of the 2024 ES 350 are affected, both built between June 27 and October 23, 2023. Owners can check their specific VIN against the campaign directly through Husqvarna Mobility’s Safety Recall Information page.

Husqvarna GASGAS Recall: What’s Wrong With the Rear Brake Caliper

The defect centers on the primary pin area of the rear brake caliper, supplied by J.Juan under its Braktec brand. That pin casting can crack or break when a motorcycle rolls backward — a scenario common enough in off-road riding that it’s worth taking seriously.

If the pin fails, the caliper bracket can crack as well, which may then cause the caliper itself to fail during normal forward-motion braking. KTM’s own filing states there’s no warning before failure.

KTM Austria’s customer service team received the first report of a fractured primary pin in March 2024 and brought it to J.Juan for review. The two companies confirmed the root cause that November, and an improved bracket — widening the primary pin area from 6.5mm to 10.5mm — was already in production for model year 2025 before this recall was announced.

NHTSA estimates roughly 1% of the affected population actually carries the defect, and has linked one crash in Germany to the issue.

Husqvarna GASGAS Recall: What Owners Need to Do Now

Dealer notification and VIN searchability on NHTSA.gov both begin July 15, 2026, with owner notification letters mailing on a phased basis starting September 2. Affected units are locked from retail registration until the recall repair is complete, and any dealer with an affected unit still in inventory must repair it before delivery. The three part numbers involved are A54113080200, A59013080200, and A54013080100.

Owners who already paid out of pocket for an inspection or caliper replacement related to this issue can request a refund by providing proof of payment. Questions can be directed to KTM, Husqvarna, and GASGAS customer service at 1-888-985-6090.

This Husqvarna GASGAS recall marks the second Braktec-related campaign to hit the KTM family of brands in as many years, following a separate front brake caliper recall covering 5,116 units in early 2025 — worth keeping in mind for anyone assuming their bike is clear just because it passed that earlier campaign.
