The Alpinestars Tech-Air 5 Plasma marks the latest milestone in motorcyclist protection, offering an ultra-slim, lightweight airbag system that provides robust coverage for the chest, ribs, back, and shoulders. Building on the original Tech-Air platform introduced in 2011, the Tech-Air 5 Plasma vest showcases Alpinestars’ continued responsibility to advance rider safety, comfort, and performance.
Weighing just 3.373 pounds, the Alpinestars Tech-Air 5 Plasma is over 25% lighter than previous Tech-Air 5 models. Its streamlined chassis incorporates fully breathable and stretchable materials making it an unencumbering piece of kit in warm weather and on longer rides. You’ll appreciate the integrated Nucleon PLASMA back protector, which blends with the airbag system to protect against significant impacts.
The Alpinestars Tech-Air 5 Plasma has three configurable Riding Modes—STREET, RACE, and OFF-ROAD—easily changed on the go, even while wearing gloves. Under the exterior, six advanced sensors (including tri-axial sensors) are managed by AI software that constantly monitors crash conditions as they happen. Upon detection of a serious crash, the system deploys a single-charge gas canister designed for serviceable replacement. Adding to rider convenience, a Type C charging port ensures quick recharging, while a lithium-ion battery supplies up to 30 hours of ride time on a single full charge.
Zipping the vest and closing the magnetic flap activates the system, and a built-in LED display indicates operational status. Bluetooth integration with the Tech-Air App allows you to check battery life, review ride data, and customize various settings through your smartphone.
The new Tech-Air 5 Plasma vest will have an MSRP of $789.95 when it is initially released in mid-March 2025, followed by an international launch in October 2025.
