The WorldSBK Argentinean Round, scheduled as the final event of the 2023 season, has been canceled due to the country’s electoral calendar. A new venue will soon be announced.

The Argentinean Round of the 2023 FIM WorldSBK FIM Championship, scheduled to be the curtain closer of the season at the Circuito San Juan Villicum from October 13th to 15th, has been canceled. The decision comes as a result of the intense electoral calendar faced by the country, which has created a complex situation impacting the daily lives of its people, provinces, and businesses.

Dorna WSBK Organization (DWO), in collaboration with Grupo OSD and the San Juan government, have collectively decided to suspend the event at the San Juan Villicum circuit. With upcoming national and provincial elections nearing, the organizers felt it was best to prioritize the political context and avoid any potential disruptions that could occur during the event.

The Argentinean Round was initially planned to coincide with a government transition in the province, adding to the situation’s complexity. To respect the political context and allow ample time for proper planning, the decision has been made to keep the schedule of events open for the new administration.

While the cancellation is undoubtedly a disappointment for WorldSBK fans and competitors, motorsport enthusiasts can rest assured that the FIM and Dorna WSBK Organization are already working diligently to find a suitable replacement venue for the final round of the 2023 MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship season. An official announcement regarding the new location will be made soon.
