Inspired by the spirit of a flat tracker that was both capable of earning its keep on the dirt as well as being proficient as an everyday ride, custom bike builder Michael “Woolie” Woolaway, with an assist from designer, Jeff Cole, took a 2017 Yamaha FZ-07, stripped it down and reconceptualized the bike with a performance-driven engine, slapped on a headlight, a license plate and turn signals… and christened it, The Framer.
Equipped with a Factory Yamaha racing kit that included oversized pistons, spec-ported cylinder head, race valves, and an electronics package, The Framer is enhanced by a custom fuel tank and uniquely fabricated body parts that keep it true to its flat track aesthetics.
The Framer rolls on a set of 19-inch Traction wheels from the house of Roland Sands, fixed with Mitas DOT tires while full floating quick-release Brembos take care of the stopping business on the front end. The back end of the braking business is comprised of a full floating stainless steel rotor with an M50 caliper. With a handcrafted Saddleman seat, the Framer is presented in a black candy paint job.
“The bike resembles a “big brother version of the Honda CR500 Street Tracker built for Dani Pedrosa, where his was a Short Track racer, this is a proper mile bike with third gear wheelies all day” – Woolie.
