The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya MotoGP is set to thrill GP lovers for many more years, with the track officially confirmed to host MotoGP races until 2031. The recent announcement comes after the circuit was named the Best GP for the Championship-deciding Solidarity GP in 2024. The circuit, renowned for its electric atmosphere and history-making races, is a fixture on the MotoGP calendar and a fan favorite among the world’s premier circuits.
The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya has been an integral part of MotoGP since its debut in 1992. Known for its challenging layout and technical demands, the track has hosted 34 Grands Prix and is the third circuit with the most consecutive seasons in MotoGP history.
Miquel Sàmper, Minister of Business and Labour of the Government of Catalonia and president of the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, expressed his enthusiasm for the deal. He highlighted Catalonia’s rich motor racing history and how this agreement reinforces the region’s global reputation. “Securing the MotoGP Grand Prix until 2031 is excellent news for Catalonia’s reputation as a host of premier international sporting events,” Sàmper said.
Pau Relat, President of Fira de Barcelona and Fira Circuit, echoed those sentiments, noting the contract extension as a major achievement. “The extension of the contract until 2031 is excellent news for the Circuit. We are very pleased to continue hosting the premier motorcycle racing championship… This will ensure the Grand Prix meets the highest standards and becomes, year after year, an unforgettable experience for fans and members of the championship,” Relat stated.
Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of Dorna Sports, praised the Circuit de Barcelona for consistently delivering a world-class experience. “They never fail to deliver a world-class fan weekend. The track is so well connected to Barcelona, one of the world’s most culturally relevant cities. This is a winning combination for us, and we’re excited to continue racing there,” Ezpeleta said.
