BMW Motorrad unveiled its new BMW R 12 nineT, a homage to “100 Years of BMW Motorrad” and a successor to the iconic BMW R nineT. This powerful and classic roadster carries on the legacy of its predecessor while introducing new design elements and innovative technology. The pricing and specifications of the R 12 nineT will be announced in the second half of 2023, building anticipation among Motorrad enthusiasts.

With its roots tracing back ten years to the launch of the original R nineT, the new BMW R 12 nineT offers riders a pure and exhilarating experience. Just like its predecessor, the R 12 nineT is designed to be fully customizable, allowing riders to tailor their motorcycles according to their individual preferences and style.

Dr. Markus Schramm, Head of BMW Motorrad, expressed his enthusiasm. He stated, “The R nineT and its customizing concept established the new Heritage experience for BMW Motorrad’s 90th birthday and has become an indispensable cornerstone of our model range. The new R 12 nineT continues the successful heritage story surrounding the legendary BMW boxer engines with an even more classic, reduced design language, even greater degrees of freedom when it comes to customizing, and, last but not least, new and innovative technology.”

One of the key features of the R 12 nineT is its 1200 Boxer motor, which incorporates redesigned intake and exhaust systems. This air/oil-cooled boxer engine pays homage to the first BMW motorcycle, the R 32, which arrived a century ago. The distinctive design, powerful acceleration, signature power delivery, and iconic sound associated with boxer engines have made them synonymous with BMW motorcycles. The R 12 nineT continues this rich tradition, and its model name reflects the engine capacity, following the convention seen in other BMW motorcycle models.

The new R 12 nineT boasts a classic and purist design that further accentuates the character of the boxer engine.
