Royal Enfield has officially welcomed Australian racer Max Whale as the newest addition to the Moto Anatomy X Royal Enfield Team for 2025. Following the retirement of Johnny Lewis, Whale steps into a program that has been steadily climbing the ranks in the Progressive American Flat Track Supertwins series. Max Whale is Royal Enfield’s first international AFT rider.

Max Whale had a strong showing in 2024, making his AFT SuperTwins debut and securing multiple top-10 finishes. His entry into the premier class follows a standout career in AFT Singles, where he turned pro in 2018 and claimed back-to-back runner-up finishes in the championship in 2020 and 2021. Max Whale has long been regarded as one of the most skilled young riders in the series, and his transition to Moto Anatomy X Royal Enfield signals an exciting new chapter for both the team and the rider.

Adrian Sellers, Head of Custom & Motorsport at Royal Enfield, expressed enthusiasm for Max Whale’s arrival, stating, “We’ve been impressed with what Max has been able to do on the track for a number of years, and we can’t wait for him to be part of Royal Enfield’s next chapter. Max is a young, aggressive racer with tons of skill, but most exciting to us is uncorking the potential we’ve seen. With Johnny taking an integral role in bike and rider development, we strongly believe this tandem will take this team to the next level.”

Johnny Lewis, a cornerstone of Moto Anatomy X Royal Enfield, will transition into a full-time development and mentorship role. Over the past five years, Lewis has served as the team’s lead racer, team manager, and bike developer, helping Royal Enfield’s Twins FT evolve into a competitive race machine. Under Lewis’ leadership, the team scored two podiums and a win in its debut season in 2020 and went on to secure multiple top-five finishes, two additional victories, and three more podiums over the next four years.

Reflecting on the transition, Lewis stated, “It’s been an amazing ride with this group, and I am very proud of the team and bike we’ve built alongside Royal Enfield. I couldn’t be more excited to continue my work with this team, this bike, and now working with Max in this next chapter of our careers. There are some similarities between him and I that we think will lend to a really smooth transition and a really successful 2025 season.”
