The Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours and WorldSBK have joyfully announced the extension of their partnership. This ensures that the esteemed Magny-Cours track will remain a fixture in the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship schedule until at least 2027, following a highly successful 2023 event that saw a record-breaking crowd.
Last year, the circuit debuted a state-of-the-art race control room, an upgrade facilitated by the track and the Departmental Council of Nievre collaboration. This enhancement is part of continuous efforts to maintain the circuit’s Grade B homologation and improve the venue’s overall infrastructure, ensuring it meets the high standards required for international racing events.
Gregorio Lavilla, the Executive Director of WorldSBK, expressed his satisfaction with the renewed agreement, noting the circuit’s consistent ability to deliver thrilling races and draw passionate fans. He said the extension is a testament to the shared goal of providing an unrivaled experience for participants and spectators at this world-class venue.
Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours, nestled in France’s scenic Nievre department, is celebrated for its challenging track that tests the skills of participating riders with its technical bends and fast straights. The venue has garnered affection from the racing community not only for its complex layout but also for the enthusiastic support it receives from local fans. This ongoing relationship is bolstered by the strong backing of the Nievre local government, which is keen on using the event to spur socio-economic development in the region.
Serge Saulnier, Chairman of the Board at Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours, remarked with pride and enthusiasm on the renewal of the partnership. He highlighted the circuit’s long-standing relationship with WorldSBK, which dates back over two decades. Saulnier pointed out that the support from local government and the circuit’s commitment to upgrading facilities play a crucial role in the event’s ongoing success.
Magny-Cours is scheduled to host the French round of the 2024 WorldSBK season from September 6th to 8th.
