Josh Herrin clinched his third Daytona 200 victory on a bright Saturday afternoon at the Daytona International Speedway in 2024, solidifying his position among the race legends. With this win, Herrin joins the esteemed group of three-time Daytona 200 victors, including Dick Klamfoth, Brad Andres, Roger Reiman, Kenny Roberts, and Mat Mladin, demonstrating his exceptional talent and tenacity in the world of motorcycle racing. Riding for Warhorse HSBK Racing Ducati, Herrin’s success at the 82nd running of the Daytona 200 was a testament to his riding ability and his team’s damn near flawless execution, particularly during the critical pit stops. Tyler Scott, Escalante’s teammate and the pole sitter, finished in second place, followed by Hayden Gillim, who celebrated his first Daytona 200 podium.
The 2024 Daytona 200 was a classic showcase of the highs and lows accompanying a 200-mile race, complete with the suspense of two pit stops and 57 laps of intense competition. Vision Wheel M4 ECSTAR Suzuki’s Richie Escalante’s hopes for a second-place finish evaporated when he ran out of gas on the final lap, ultimately coasting to a fifth-place finish.
Reflecting on his 2024 Daytona 200 victory, Josh Herrin acknowledged the crucial role of his team, particularly praising their execution of the pit stops. Despite initial doubts about their readiness, the team surpassed expectations, with his 2024 Superbike teammate Loris Baz notably contributing as the fuel guy. Herrin also shared insights into his challenges during the race, from fuel concerns to visibility issues with his pit board. Ultimately, his strategic thinking and the team’s adaptability played pivotal roles in achieving this dream finish.
“I owe it all to my team. Ducati USA, Ducati Corse for putting me on an amazing motorcycle for the last three years. Warhorse Racing, HSBKRacing.com. I’m so bummed that we weren’t able to run OnlyFans on the bike. It is what it is. At least I got to run the helmet, so I’m happy that I got to support them, because that’s three years in a row that we’ve had OnlyFans on the helmet. Three Daytona pole positions, two wins, and countless laps led. I feel like they’re a little bit of good luck. So, thank you to Dylan and everybody there for their support. Thank you to my family. I’m just so happy to be up here.”
