Indian Motorcycle is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Chief, kicking off the festivities with the all-new Indian Chief 2022 Model Lineup.
Indian Motorcycle introduced the Indian Chief in 1921. Since then, America’s first motorcycle company’s iconic bike has become a staple of its prestigious roster of two-wheeled machines. Fast forward 100 years and the Indian Chief is more distinguished than ever before. The Indian Chief 2022 model lineup is presented in three distinct versions to mark this centennial anniversary.
The design aesthetics of the Indian Chief 2022 models are focused on simplicity. Less is more. All of the models feature a classic steel welded tube frame, a four-gallon fuel tank, bobbed rear fender, dual adjustable rear shocks, dual exhaust, LED lighting, keyless ignition, and Pirelli Night Dragon tires.
With a saddle height of 26 inches and a short wheelbase of 64-inches, the models offer the rider three ride modes to select from that include sport, standard, and tour. The 46mm front forks with 5.2-inches of travel and an impressive lean angle of 28.5-degrees means that the Chief is capable of handling spirited rides on the back roads.
Each model in the lineup is offered in a base trim as well as a premium option that offers upgrades visually and performance-wise.
The Indian Chief, Chief Bobber and Super Chief feature a 108-foot pound of torque, Thunderstroke 111 powerplant. Each version is equipped with an analog gauge, chrome and matte black finishes, and is available with or without ABS.
The Chief Dark Horse, Chief Bobber Dark Horse and Super Chief Limited are powered by the Thunderstroke 116 engine, providing 120-foot pounds of torque. The Super Chief Limited has chrome finishes and accents while the Chief Dark Horse and Chief Bobber Dark Horse feature gloss black finishes.
The Super Chief and Super Chief Limited are the touring bikes of the Indian Chief 2022 model lineup, engineered for comfort and the long haul. Features include a quick-release windscreen, black leather saddlebags, a touring seat with passenger pad, floorboards and traditional cruiser handlebars. The Super Chief and Super Chief Limited are rolling on 16-inch wire wheels and have a large headlight bucket with nacelle, fork covers, and a full chrome exhaust.
“The Indian Chief is a truly iconic motorcycle and what better way to celebrate its 100th birthday than unleashing an entirely new Indian Chief lineup. These bikes capture the mechanical simplicity and attitude of classic American V-twins, yet bring it all forward with modern sophistication and features. We could not be more thrilled to bring this new platform into our lineup.” – Mike Dougherty, President of Indian Motorcycle.
