
Bimota has picked its technology partner for one of the most complex systems on the new Bimota KB998 Rimini: active aerodynamics. GET, Athena’s electronics division, has been selected to develop and electronically manage the winglet system on the Rimini-based brand’s most advanced superbike — real-time aero, not fixed static elements.

Here’s what actually makes the Bimota KB998 Rimini’s aerodynamics “active”: a dedicated control unit processes live data from the bike’s sensors — speed, acceleration, and riding conditions — and adjusts the position of the aerodynamic winglets in real time based on that data, rather than relying on fixed, static aero elements. GET’s own materials state the result is a tangible improvement in stability, corner entry, and traction — three specific, testable performance areas rather than vague marketing language.
This is genuinely the same broader industry direction SBI covered recently with CFMOTO’s V4 SR-RR prototype — active aerodynamics moving out of MotoGP exclusivity and into road-going superbikes across multiple manufacturers at once. The Bimota KB998 Rimini is further evidence this is a real engineering trend taking hold industry-wide, not an isolated gimmick from one brand.

GET and Bimota: An Off-Road Partnership Moves to the Track
GET is the electronics division of Athena, a name SBI readers likely already know from the performance parts world — pistons, gaskets, and engine components. This isn’t GET and Bimota’s first collaboration, either: the two have already worked together on off-road development for the BX 450 Enduro. The Bimota KB998 Rimini project extends that existing relationship into the sportbike segment for the first time, rather than starting from scratch with an unproven partner.
The engineering challenge itself was genuinely custom work: integrating chassis, aerodynamics, and electronics into one system capable of superior dynamic performance across every riding phase required GET to build a fully tailor-made electronic platform, capable of communicating with the Bimota KB998 Rimini’s specific architecture and integrating with its existing mechanical solutions — not an off-the-shelf electronics package adapted to fit. For GET, the project marks a deliberate expansion beyond its historical off-road and motorsport base into high-performance, road-going motorcycle applications.
