The Spanish MotoGP 2026 race report has three storylines, and Alex Marquez wrote all of them. Back-to-back Jerez wins on home soil. The end of Marco Bezzecchi’s record-breaking five-race winning streak. Ducati’s first 2026 victory after a brutal Sunday drought. The reigning World Champion crashed out of second place on Lap 2. None of those things looked likely heading into the weekend.
Marco Bezzecchi arrived at Jerez riding a five Grand Prix winning streak dating back to Portimao 2025. Aprilia had won the opening three races of 2026. By Sunday evening, Alex Marquez had ended the streak with a flawless performance, Bezzecchi settled for P2, and Ducati Lenovo Team posted a double DNF after Marc Marquez crashed early and Pecco Bagnaia retired with a Desmosedici problem.
Spanish MotoGP 2026: Marc Marquez Crashes Out at Turn 11
Marc Marquez got the holeshot from pole. Bezzecchi stormed up from the second row into P2, and Alex Marquez followed him through to P3, then past Bezzecchi into P2 at Turn 9. The Gresini star didn’t wait long to attack his brother for the lead. At Turn 6, the Dani Pedrosa Corner, the #73 shoved his way past the reigning World Champion to lead.
Could Marc Marquez respond? The answer came on Lap 2. Turn 11, the rapid right-hander, and the front-end washed away. There was no chance of saving it. The #93 was up on his feet and OK, but he was out of the race — the second straight year crashing out of his home Grand Prix at Jerez. Another early dent in the title charge.
Back on track, Alex Marquez was lapping 0.6s ahead of Bezzecchi. Di Giannantonio passed Martin for P3 on Lap 5. A small mistake from Acosta at the start of Lap 6 — contact with Raul Fernandez — dropped the KTM star from P7 to P9 and cost him some front-end aero. Pecco Bagnaia worked past him at the final corner. The Italian was P10 with race pace.

Spanish MotoGP 2026: Pecco Bagnaia’s Desmosedici Calls It a Day
At the start of Lap 12, the second factory Ducati was done. Pecco encountered some form of problem with the Desmosedici, and the sight of the #63 pulling into the pitlane signalled a double DNF for Ducati Lenovo Team — the top two riders from Saturday’s Sprint, both retired before half distance. A nightmare Sunday in the red corner.
In the blue corner, Alex Marquez stretched his legs. By Lap 15, his lead over Bezzecchi was just under two seconds, with Di Giannantonio another 0.9s back. The podium positions looked settled. The battle for the top six did not. Zarco was holding P5, and with three laps to go, he caught a face full of Trackhouse — first from Raul Fernandez, then from Ogura. Two classy moves on the impressive Frenchman.
Up the road, Alex Marquez had 4.4km left before the chequered flag turned him into a back-to-back home Grand Prix winner. A wave to the packed hillsides through Turns 9 and 10 capped off a phenomenal Sunday for the recently turned 30-year-old.

Spanish MotoGP 2026 Results and Championship Standings
Alex Marquez took the win with full control of the gap. Bezzecchi settled for P2 to end his record-breaking unbeaten Sunday run, but 20 points means the Italian extends his championship lead. Di Giannantonio took third and jumped to P3 in the standings overall. Martin was P4, leaving the 2024 World Champion 19 points clear in second place in the title chase.
The P5 battle went Ogura’s way after the Trackhouse rider shoved past Raul Fernandez at Turn 6 on the final lap. Fernandez P6 on home turf, Zarco P7 after his strong weekend, Bastianini P8 leading KTM, Aldeguer P9 continuing his recovery, and Acosta forced to settle for P10. Brad Binder P11, Morbidelli, Marini, Quartararo, and Mir closed out the points-paying positions after the 2020 World Champion served a double Long Lap penalty.
Ducati’s Sunday drought ends thanks to Alex Marquez’s heroics, but it’s a bittersweet result for the factory after Marc Marquez loses more crucial ground in the championship chase to Bezzecchi and Aprilia. The Spanish MotoGP 2026 weekend ends Aprilia’s winning streak, but the title race is still going through the Noale factory. Le Mans is up next, with Bezzecchi and Martin looking to repeat their Brazilian 1-2 at the Bugatti Circuit in round five.
