In its fourth generation, the Ducati Hypermotard returns with a vengeance—lightweight, radical, and evolved into its most thrilling form yet. With the debut of the Hypermotard V2 and the race-focused V2 SP, Ducati has crafted a pair of machines that amplify the Hypermotard’s legacy.
The Ducati Hypermotard V2 and V2 SP bring a new engine, new frame, and new aesthetic, while paying homage to the original 2005 prototype. The twin underseat exhausts, floating tail light, and dual-wing tank design scream classic Hypermotard, while the fresh, aggressive bodywork and race-ready electronics package declare war on convention.

Hypermotard V2: Minimal Weight, Maximum Mischief
The base model Hypermotard V2 is lighter, tighter, and more hyper than ever. Ducati’s all-new 890cc V-twin—dubbed the Ducati V2—is not only the most compact twin the brand has ever produced at just 54.4 kg, but also the most powerful to ever grace a Hypermotard. With 120 hp on tap and 94 Nm of torque, the V2 is designed to launch riders off the apex and straight into orbit.
The torque curve is especially impressive: 70% of peak torque is already on tap at just 3,000 rpm. That low-end grunt, paired with a shorter gear ratio and finely tuned ride-by-wire throttle response, makes the Hypermotard V2 a torquey, rear-tire-roasting thrill ride in any gear.
Weight has been slashed by a full 13 kg compared to the outgoing Hypermotard 950. At just 180 kg wet (without fuel), the V2 feels featherlight under you. The handling benefits are immediate: faster transitions, sharper turn-ins, and a generally more playful, less fatiguing experience. For A2 license holders, Ducati will also offer a restricted 35 kW version, without sacrificing the spirit of the Hypermotard.

Hypermotard V2 SP: The Track Weapon
The Ducati Hypermotard V2 SP cranks everything up to eleven. Designed for riders who live for the limit, the SP version is the race-spec evolution of the V2. The Öhlins NIX30 fork and STX46 rear shock bring a track-proven pedigree to the chassis, while forged aluminium wheels drop 1.56 kg of unsprung mass, enhancing flickability and straight-line acceleration. Carbon fiber accents and the bold SP livery give the bike an unmistakable visual edge.
You also get Brembo M50 calipers (upgrading from the V2’s M4.32 units) and a radial master cylinder for laser-sharp stopping power, while the Öhlins setup offers greater damping control over every surface ripple. The SP’s 177 kg kerb weight and stickier Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV Corsa tires ensure surgical handling whether you’re railing around a track or carving up canyon roads.
Electronics-wise, the SP adds two track-ready tools: Ducati Power Launch and the Ducati Pit Limiter. These are serious additions for serious riders looking to extract every tenth of a second on track days.

Hypermotard V2 Design: Aggression with Purpose
Ducati has recaptured the brutal elegance of the original 1100 Hypermotard and reimagined it with modern sharpness. The new headlight housing and sculpted front fairing offer a robotic, almost alien aesthetic. The DRL signature remains iconic, while the double exhausts, exposed trellis subframe, and compact tail preserve the visual DNA of the original.
Ergonomics have been refined, too. A more motard-style stance with wide bars and a narrower seat makes body positioning second nature. The V2 SP gets added flair with white rims, oversized SP logos, and a limited-edition “20 Years of Hypermotard” design motif—paying tribute to two decades of Ducati’s most rebellious machine.

The Hypermotard V2 Chassis: Monocoque Mastery
Both bikes reap the rewards of Ducati’s new monocoque chassis—engineered for minimal weight and maximum structural rigidity. Borrowing from Panigale architecture, the frame integrates the airbox and uses the engine as a stressed member. This design not only sheds pounds, it tightens handling dynamics, making the bike more responsive and less physically demanding.
The Hypermotard V2 gets fully adjustable Kayaba suspension, while the V2 SP levels up with fully adjustable Öhlins units and a Sachs steering damper. Both models utilize a double-sided swingarm derived from the Panigale V4’s symmetrical design, offering greater stiffness, improved cornering stability, and reduced flex.

Wheels, Tires, and Braking: Premium Hardware
The base V2 rolls on cast alloy wheels with Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tires—offering plenty of grip for aggressive street riding. The SP swaps in forged wheels and Diablo Rosso IV Corsa rubber for increased track day performance.
Braking is handled by dual 320 mm discs up front with Brembo calipers—M4.32 on the V2, and M50s on the SP. The rear gets a single 245 mm disc with ample modulation. These aren’t just good brakes; they’re track-grade anchors that let you trail-brake deep and push the limit with confidence.
Hypermotard V2 Electronics: Advanced Control, Pure Fun
Ducati’s latest-generation electronics suite is standard across both models. It’s powered by a 6-axis IMU and includes Cornering ABS, Ducati Traction Control, Ducati Wheelie Control, Engine Brake Control, and second-gen Ducati Quick Shift (DQS) 2.0. The Hypermotard V2 SP takes things further with Ducati Power Launch and the Ducati Pit Limiter, out of the box.

Each system is tied into one of four Riding Modes (Race, Sport, Road, Wet), which can be customized to suit individual preferences. The 5″ full-color TFT display features three Info Modes (Road, Road Pro, and Track), and everything is controlled via Ducati’s intuitive new petal-style joystick. The tech is slick, fast, and genuinely enhances the ride without overwhelming the rider.

Ducati Performance Parts: Tune Your Hyper
For riders looking to turn their Hypermotard into a weaponized work of art, Ducati Performance offers an extensive parts catalog. Want to shave off 4 kg and add a few horsepower? Opt for the Termignoni full exhaust. Need track telemetry? Install the Lap Timer Pro with the GPS module. Looking for flash? Load up on billet aluminum parts, carbon fiber panels, and forged levers.
There are also practical upgrades like Turn-by-Turn navigation, Ducati Multimedia System (DMS) integration, and heated grips. Whether you’re building the ultimate track bike or the meanest urban supermoto, Ducati’s factory catalog has you covered.
The Ducati Hypermotard V2 ($16,995) and V2 SP ($20,995)mark a new chapter in the evolution of Ducati’s most irreverent model. Lighter, faster, sharper, and smarter, these bikes bridge the gap between motard mayhem and modern supersport sophistication. The base V2 is a perfectly balanced daily thrill-seeker, while the V2 SP is a track-honed scalpel for serious riders who want the edge of MotoGP tech with supermoto spirit.
With availability beginning in May 2026 for North America, Ducati fans have every reason to start counting the days.
