BMW Motorrad has shattered its own records in 2024, achieving its highest-ever global sales with 210,408 motorcycles sold. Germany retained its status as BMW Motorrad’s largest market, leading to a strong European performance. Across the continent, BMW sold 118,727 motorcycles, with Germany alone accounting for 26,177 units—an 8% increase over 2023. France (20,693), Italy (16,617), and Spain (13,009) also played pivotal roles in the European sales success. Central Europe contributed to a 12% increase in sales. Beyond Europe, BMW Motorrad saw significant growth in key markets like the USA (17,272), Brazil (15,267), China (13,872), and India (8,301).
Central to the BMW Motorrad record in 2024 is the brand’s compelling product portfolio and the successful launch of new models. Highlights include the high-performance BMW M 1000 XR, the versatile BMW S 1000 XR, and the adventure-ready BMW R 1300 GS and R 1250 GS Adventure. These models, celebrated for their cutting-edge technology and dynamic capabilities, were integral to BMW’s sales dominance, with the GS lineup alone selling over 68,000 units.
The iconic BMW S 1000 RR cemented its status as a supersport favorite, with 11,610 units sold, contributing to the impressive total of 27,147 units in BMW’s high-performance four-cylinder segment. Meanwhile, the revamped F-series, featuring the BMW F 800 GS and F 900 models, added 40,890 units to the record-breaking sales tally.
Urban mobility also emerged as a strong growth area for BMW Motorrad in 2024. The segment, which includes the popular BMW C 400 scooters and the fully electric BMW CE 04, achieved sales of over 20,000 units. The sub-500cc category also performed exceptionally well, with the BMW G 310 models accounting for 22,339 units sold. These motorcycles, known for their accessibility and versatility, continue to attract new riders to the brand.
As BMW Motorrad reflects on the global sales record-breaking achievements of 2024, the brand is already looking ahead. Stephan Reiff, BMW Motorrad’s senior executive, emphasized the company’s ambitious plans to expand its footprint in the premium motorcycle market. With innovative new models and global events in the pipeline, BMW aims to build on its momentum and deliver even greater value to riders worldwide.
