Dovi stays with Ducati.

Ducati and Andrea Dovizioso has announced that they will renew their partnership for another two years (2019 and 2020).

There has been a lot of speculation over the last few months regarding the future of the relationship between Andrea Dovizioso and the Ducati GP team. Dovi is the longest serving rider on the factory Ducati team, clocking in at eight years, by the end of the 2020 season. He joined the team in 2013 and is no stranger to the podium. In 2017, he finished on the podium eight times with a total of six race wins. So why the holdout? Seems like a no-brainer, correct? Compared to his teammate, Jorge Lorenzo, Dovi has proven over and over again that he’s got the stones to win a championship for Ducati.

In the strategic battle of politics and finances, some have said that it is one of the two that has been responsible for the waiting game. They don’t call it the “silly season” for nothing. It is clear to me that the “hold up” was a sum total of both politics and finances. With a set budget, it became a question of what Ducati could afford. Dovi has performed and delivered. He’s earned his spot, the good old fashion way… By working for it.
