Classic design meets modern innovation as BMW announces two new models: the 2024 R 12 nineT and R 12
The original R nineT, introduced in 2013, was a synergy of timeless design and contemporary technology. This approach led to the creation of a family of Roadsters under the BMW Motorrad Heritage line. The new 2024 BMW R 12 nineT and R 12 are designed for style and dynamic riding fun on both the street and back roads.
The new R 12 nineT and R 12 have some impressive features, including powerful 1,170 cc air/oil-cooled 2-cylinder boxer engines. The R 12 nineT can deliver up to 109 hp and 85 lb-ft of torque, while the R 12 can offer up to 95 hp and 81 lb-ft. Both models have a six-speed transmission with shaft drive. The bikes boast of exemplary craftsmanship and customization options, with new under-seat airboxes and Classic trellis frames with bolted-on rear sections. The advanced suspension systems and high-performance brakes make for a smooth ride, while the standard BMW Motorrad ABS Pro ensures enhanced safety. You can customize your bike with genuine BMW Motorrad accessories, and standard riding modes cater to different riding styles. Classic round instruments come with an optional digital TFT display, while LED lighting and Keyless Ride are standard features on both models. Each model has three attractive paint options to choose from.
The development of these models focused on reducing them to their essentials while paying keen attention to details, resulting in a strong emotional appeal. Customization, a trend started by the R nineT, has led to a vibrant and creative motorcycle scene. The R 12 nineT and R 12 continue this legacy, offering interchangeable tank shapes, seat designs, and fly lines for greater visual individuality.
The R 12 nineT stands out with its aluminum tank, dynamic line, and compact tail section, reflecting the design of iconic BMW motorcycles from the 1970s. The R 12, with its steel tank and classic cruiser design, offers a relaxed seating position and a distinctive teardrop tank shape.
Both models boast a newly designed, one-piece trellis frame, distinctive exhaust systems, and meticulously crafted components like the front fender bracket and LED headlight. The instrument panel integrates seamlessly into the overall style, with the option of traditional round instruments or a micro-TFT display.
The R 12 nineT and R 12 models are equipped with powerful BMW boxer engines, known for their rugged design and unique sound. These engines deliver dynamic performance for the roadster and relaxed cruising for the cruiser.
BMW Motorrad’s new R 12 nineT and R 12 models are a celebration of the brand’s 100-year legacy in motorcycle manufacturing. They embody the spirit of BMW’s iconic boxer engines, offering riders a perfect blend of heritage and modernity. These models are set to captivate both enthusiasts and new riders alike with their classic appeal and innovative features, making them a standout addition to the BMW Motorrad Heritage line.
