It was like deja vu, sorta, as the Brothers Marquez put an identical ass-whooping on the field during the MotoGP Argentina 2025 round at the Termas De Rio Hondo Circuit in Argentina, eerily similar to the ass-whooping they dished out in Thailand. Except this time a new face joined them on the podium, as Franco Morbidelli rode a great race aboard his VR46 neon yellow steed. Morbidelli wasn’t close to challenging the Marquez brothers but it was good to see a new face alongside them as Pecco Bagnia finished fourth.
It was an almost identical weekend as the season opener as Marc Marquez made the clean sweep of pole, sprint, and race. What’s most impressive is that Alex Marquez is having a great start to the season, but it’s overshadowed by his big brother, Marc. Alex, once again, grabbed the lead and even looked to stress his big bro causing him to almost lose it a couple of times but Marc maintained and then did what big bro does, and won by a comfortable margin.
After watching the last two races and listening to the post-race interviews, I believe Marc is grooming his little brother, Alex, to be a MotoGP Champion. Although the little bro is a two-time world champion, it appears that Marc is showing Alex what it takes to win at the highest level. It is a delight to watch them dueling it out on the world’s biggest stage with the world’s best riders.
MotoGP Argentina 2025 Post Race Concerns
The other side of this equation is not so much a Marquez Brother puzzle that needs to be solved, but a Dorna and MotoGP problem. Ducati is destroying the competition like Michael Jordan at a summer league pickup game at the YMCA.
So far, no one is even close, and there lies the problem. If fans want to watch a parade, they’d go to New York City during Thanksgiving. They want racing and as of now, they’re not getting it at the top level.
Moto3 on the other hand? I’m calling that division “the dog pound” because those kids are just straight-up dawgs! And the bone is MotoGP. Moto2 is a little different, but still, you see racing.
MotoGP needs battles and as of now, it’s not happening. What needs to be done? That’s for the experts to decide. It’s above my pay grade. Although nothing is holding other manufacturers back from being successful, they have engineers also, as well as talented riders But the show needs more and I just hope they find it before interest wains.
In the meantime, let’s hope the Marquez family keeps providing the thrills while the rest of the pack figures it out.
The next stop after MotoGP Argentina 2025 is Texas. Maybe all that barbeque will slow down Marc Marquez, because, as of now, nothing has.
