More MotoGP Cancellations – Silverstone and Phillip Island are nixed

GP teams and fans, alike, will have to look forward to 2021 to see race action in Great Britain and Australia. Dorna Sports, FIM, and IRTA made the tough decision to cancel the British Grand Prix, scheduled for August 28th through the 30th, at the Silverstone Circuit.

The cancelation of the British GP also cancels the British Talent Cup that was scheduled for the same weekend.

The Australia Grand Prix, scheduled for the weekend of October 23rd through the 25th at Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit, has also been canceled.

“We’re saddened to have to announce the cancellation of these iconic events after finding no way through the logistical and operational issues resulting from the pandemic and rearranged calendar. Silverstone and Phillip Island are always two of the most thrilling race weekends of the season, with both tracks never failing in their promise to deliver some of the closest racing in our Championship.” – Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of Dorna Sports.
