Lucas Oil Short Track: Event Highlights and Venue Insight

The inaugural Lucas Oil Short Track, scheduled for Saturday, June 7, 2025, marks a noteworthy milestone as the Progressive American Flat Track championship rounds out a proper opening series of six consecutive short tracks. This event will unfold at the Lucas Oil Speedway, a venue renowned across America as the “Diamond of Dirt Tracks,” set in Wheatland, Missouri. Previously hosting primarily four-wheeled action, Lucas Oil Speedway now embraces the elite two-wheel warriors of flat track racing, boasting a pristine 3/8-mile clay oval, a challenging 1.2-mile offroad track, a go-kart circuit, and even drag-boat facilities at Lake Lucas.

Fans attending the Lucas Oil Short Track will find a wealth of attractions to complement the thrilling racing action. The Fan Party kicks off at 5:00 p.m. local time with a Rider Q&A, while a live DJ maintains an electrifying atmosphere. Post-race, a spectacular fireworks display ensures the event concludes on a memorable note. The Speedway’s amenities include on-site go-karting, the interactive Kids Zone, the popular Diamond Bar, numerous midway vendors, Jumbotron viewing screens, convenient motorcycle parking, and an exceptional variety of food and beverage choices.

Riders to Watch and Race Classes

All eyes at the Lucas Oil Short Track will undoubtedly focus on Mission AFT SuperTwins championship leader Briar Bauman (#3 RWR/Parts Plus/Latus Motors Harley-Davidson XG750R). Riding a wave of momentum, Bauman has captured victories in the past three consecutive rounds, catapulting Harley-Davidson’s XG750R back into premier-class prominence. With an impressive tally, he’s challenging historical milestones, now second only to legendary Kenny Roberts for most premier-class wins without a Harley-Davidson XR750 victory. However, the fresh terrain of Lucas Oil Speedway presents an intriguing challenge for Bauman’s winning streak.

Hot on Bauman’s heels, Estenson Racing’s Dallas Daniels (#32 Yamaha MT-07 DT) remains a formidable contender despite finding himself in an unexpected points deficit. Daniels, known for his resilience and consistency—holding a remarkable record of 18 straight podium finishes—historically thrives at new venues. He’ll aim to capitalize on the Lucas Oil Short Track’s fresh challenge to close his points gap.

Also vying for podium glory at the Lucas Oil Short Track are fierce competitors like Davis Fisher(#67 Rackley Racing KTM 790 Duke), who’s found his rhythm this season, securing multiple podiums and sitting third in points. Brandon Robinson (#44 Mission Roof Systems Harley-Davidson XG750R), Jarod VanDerKooi (#20 Fastrack Racing KTM 790 Duke), and emerging stars James Ott (#19 G&G Racing Yamaha MT-07), Max Whale (#18 Moto Anatomy X Powered by Royal Enfield 650), Trent Lowe (#48 American Honda Honda Transalp), and Dan Bromley (#62 Memphis Shades Suzuki GSX-8S) all possess the skill to mount serious challenges.

A notable storyline this weekend is Declan Bender (#70 Memphis Shades Yamaha MT-07), stepping up to replace the recently retired Brandon Price at On the Box Racing. Bender’s proven tenacity and impressive late-season performances position him as a significant dark horse at Lucas Oil Speedway.

Progressive AFT’s action-packed class lineup, led by the Mission AFT SuperTwins, promises intense battles at every turn, each rider eager to etch their name in the Lucas Oil Short Track history books.
