Harley-Davidson has recently made an exceptional addition to its historic Juneau Avenue campus in Milwaukee with the unveiling of Davidson Park. This new park, situated in the heart of the iconic motorcycle manufacturer’s headquarters, is set to serve as a vibrant green space that celebrates the company’s rich heritage while promoting community engagement. Designed by the renowned Heatherwick Studio in collaboration with local Milwaukee-based firms HGA and Greenfire Management Services, Davidson Park promises to benefit employees, visitors, and the local community.
At the core of Davidson Park is “The Hub,” a sunken multi-use events space and amphitheater adorned with native plants and trees. This design encourages community gatherings and celebrations, making it a standout park feature. Incorporating sustainable elements such as native bioswales and permeable pavers showcases Harley-Davidson’s commitment to environmental responsibility, with the project being one of Wisconsin’s first SITES-certified initiatives.
The park’s pedestrian thoroughfare, Main Street, connects attractions, including the Little Legends Playground, picnic knoll, serenity garden, and viewing lawns. The Foundation Stone, designed by local artist Megan Huss, stands as a cast iron centerpiece celebrating the park’s creation. Union Plaza, the park’s main entrance, offers flexible space for markets and events, complemented by a 10-foot-tall weathered steel sculpture inspired by Harley-Davidson’s iconic bar and shield.
The 1903 Tavern, in partnership with Molson Coors, offers an open-air environment where visitors can unwind while contributing to park initiatives through their purchases.
Harley-Davidson has more in store for its campus, including a STEAM Lab and the Harley-Davidson Factory Racing Headquarters, aiming to integrate educational and experiential opportunities for visitors further.
